Hospitality Kit With Key Card Switch for Thermostat Control by Sthenic
  • No running of any new wire
  • Quick and easy implementation of energy saving HVAC controls
  • Responds automatically to occupancy or vacancy
  • Great for office, classroom, home, or hotel room
  • Optional manual control
  • Incorporates EnOcean wireless technology
Replace existing thermostats in hotel rooms with the 24VAC Wireless Thermostat to lower costs associated with PTAC units running in unoccupied rooms.

The thermostat wirelessly communicates with the Keycard Access Switch, surface mounted near the door inside each room. When a guest enters a room and inserts a room keycard into the keycard switch, the switch transmits an "occupied" signal to the thermostat. The thermostat receives the signal and automatically adjusts temperature set points to a narrow preset range (i.e. 69-71 degrees Fahrenheit). When the guest prepares to leave the room and removes the keycard from the switch, the keycard switch transmits an "unoccupied" signal to the thermostat. The thermostat receives the signal and automatically adjusts temperature set points to a wider range (i.e. 59 - 81 degrees Fahrenheit).

Kit includes:
  • One: Wireless Keycard Reader (White)

Installation

Each package is preprogrammed to work with your keycard reader and thermostat. Always follow local electrical codes when installing this device. If you are unsure about any portion of these instructions, please contact a qualified electrician.

The Thermostat is wired to the fixture and the power source.
  1. WARNING: To avoid fire, shock, or death, TURN OFF POWER at circuit breaker or fuse and verify that it is OFF before installation begins. Make sure that it remains OFF until installation is complete.
  2. If retrofitting old thermostat, remove old thermostat, carefully noting the wire connections on the old unit. Record wire color and terminal legends (Cable wire color for Control Feed, Load Feed, Common, Auxiliary Heat, Compressor, Low Fan, High Fan, and Reversing Valve).
  3. Install mounting bracket to the junction box with provided mounting screws.
  4. Wire thermostat according to function.
  5. Push wires into junction box. Rest bottom of thermostat on mounting tabs in mounting plate. Push top of thermostat towards wall and secure into place with self-tapping screw.
  6. Turn power on.
  7. Test the range of the keycard reader before mounting.
  8. Keycard reader can be surface mounted using screws or adhesive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my receiver independently turning ON and OFF?

  • This can occur when an unintended transmitter is activated within the receiver range when the receiver is in Learn Mode.
  • Clear all transmitters in the receiver and reprogram the receiver

My receiver is not responding to my transmitter command, why?

  • Move the switch closer to the receiver. If the system works at closer distance, the transmitter was installed outside the reception range, or there was radio signal interference. Repeaters that extend the coverage range are available; please contact your dealer.
  • Mount the switch or the receiver at a better location.

What is the range of my wireless connectors?

  • Masonry 65 ft. (20m), through 3 walls max.
  • Reinforced concrete 32 ft. (10m), through 1 wall / ceiling max.
  • Wood walls / drywalls 98 ft. (30m), through 5 walls max.

How can I reprogram my devices?
